IRS Publishes Guidance on Media Sanitization

The Internal Revenue Service recently issued a publication that defines the requirements and guidelines for external agencies and other authorized recipients to ensure the adequate protection of the Federal Tax Information (FTI). IRS Publication 1075, Tax Information Security Guidelines for Federal, State and Local Agencies and Entities, serves as a helpful guide to any organization needing to protect sensitive data.  These publications explain the requirements and provide guidance for implementation of media sanitization techniques for media that contain Federal tax return information.  A summary of the guidelines and link to resources is provided on the IRS website.
