Top Records Management Conferences in 2019

Every year there are several records management conferences that provide educational and innovative information for records and information management (RIM) professionals. These conferences are designed to help expand RIM professionals’ core knowledge of the industry and apprise them of the latest industry trends. They also offer the opportunity to meet industry experts and network with other RIM professionals. Here are some important records management conferences that are scheduled in 2019.

Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM), March 26-28, San Diego, CA

The AIIM conference was first held in 2012, and normally attracts more than 600 international RIM professionals. The AIIM conference committee carefully selects its speakers so attendees can hear from the industry’s best. At this conference, business leaders and strategists will deliver presentations on proven fundamentals and groundbreaking practices that will affect the industry.

Attendees will learn new techniques and get up-to-date on the latest industry trends, strategies and tactics; meet with new vendors and suppliers; and speak not only to the experts, but also to other RIM professionals from around the globe.

E-Discovery, Records and Information Management Conference and Expo, March 28, Washington, D.C.

This year will mark the 16th annual event. This conference will examine current technology solutions and requirements, policy updates and changes, and productive e-discovery and electronic records management systems.

This event will last only one day, but it will cover topics that deal with the ever-growing amount of digital information. Due to this growth, the capacity of electronic RIM has increased dramatically and is becoming a more central concern for not only business, but also for government agencies responsible for securely storing, accessing and retrieving records.

National Conference for Managing Electronic Records (MER), May 20-22, Chicago, IL

The 2019 MER Conference will mark the 27th annual event. The conference will last two and a half days, with sessions led by world-class industry experts that focus on the legal, technical and operational facets of managing electronic records.

The conference will also discuss how blockchain technologies, the Internet of Things (IoT), social media and machine learning affect IG and RIM. It will delve into the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), auto-classification, and technical and legal challenges industry professionals face.

ARMA Live, October 21-23, Nashville, TN

Formerly the Association of Records Managers and Administrators, ARMA International is a not-for-profit organization that holds an annual three-day conference for RIM professionals called ARMA Live. The conference will consist of roughly 80 sessions by renowned industry experts on a wide range of topics such as electronic records management, regulatory compliance, e-discovery, data analytics for information governance (IG), records management in the legal environment, and records management technology.

Not all sessions will be lectured seminars. There will also be roundtable discussions and interactive sessions.

ARMA International merged with Information Coalition in 2018. Information Coalition formerly held the annual InfoGov Conference.
